For those of you who were not at the hamfair this weekend, you may not be aware that OEM has selected Marty’s replacement as the OEM Communications officer, and it’s none other than our own Fred Molesworth, AF7S.
Final details are still pending, but he’ll be starting in the position sometime in the next month, and will be trained by Marty over the following month.
There seems to be a trend here, in that the past two Comm Officers, Marty, and Tami Kuehl, W7TMK, were also EC’s for the OEM ARES Unit. But with ARES such a central component of the State of Oregon Emergency Operations Plan, it really makes sense to select both someone who is very familiar with ARES, and with the specifics or the OEM unit, and how it fits into the plan.
